Share Your Story
So many people have experienced loss in their lives. There are many different sorts of loss and grief is our natural response to loss. Whilst grief is very personal, I believe that by sharing our stories we can help each other through what can be a very challenging period. I appreciate that opening up about our grief can be hard, I therefore appreciate everyone willing to share their story in my blog post/newsletter, Grief Stories, on Substack.
Aim
The aim of the Grief Stories project isn’t to offer professional advice, nor is it to pity those who experience loss. That’s not what I want. My aim is to raise awareness of grief; something society doesn’t really talk about. By sharing your story, you can inspire and empower others. You can highlight what has helped you. This way, you can encourage others to embark on their healing journey.
And it may help you as well. Perhaps it’s something you feel like you’re not able to talk about within your closest circle and would like to connect with others in a similar situation. It could be a chance to get things off your chest.
The fact is that our society doesn’t really encourage talking about grief. Therefore, I’ve decided to share my story and invite others to join me in doing so and include their story in my blog post/newsletter, Grief Stories, on Substack. By working together, we can help lift the taboo, destigmatise grief and promote healing.
To be featured
If you would like to join in and share your story in my blog post/newsletter, Grief Stories, on Substack but don’t have the experience of writing a story, this isn’t a problem. You can still email smiley@journeyofsmiley.com, and I’d be happy to assist you with the writing. And you can use a pseudonym if you wish to stay anonymous. You can share as much of your story as you want in a way you feel comfortable with.
It should be about 700 – 1000 words long, and you will be allowed to approve the post before publishing, should it be edited at all. They should be unpublished elsewhere, and I ask that only excerpts get shared on social media or your blog with a link for the reader to find the rest of the post on Grief Stories by Katy Parker’s Substack. Please include a bio, around 100 words, including any links you would like to highlight, and a headshot.
Although your contribution to the project is free, I can offer you a promotion with free publicity and a potential backlinks swap.
By sending your story to smiley@journeyofsmiley.com, you give me the non-exclusive right to publish it.
